Soft opening of SMLao Hospital a breakthrough to boost Ozamiz’s healthcare system—Mayor Oaminal

  OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental--The Local Government of Ozamiz, led by Mayor Henry “Indy” Oaminal Jr, led the soft opening of the SM Lao Memorial City General Hospital—which was considered a “significant breakthrough” in the city’s healthcare sector. Earlier this week, Oaminal stressed the inaugural ceremony for the new healthcare facility was “a crucial step towards enhancing healthcare accessibility and quality” within the province of Misamis Occidental under the visionary program of the Padayon Asenso Ozamiz Administration. The hospital's soft opening is part of its transitional period and allows the hospital team to adjust to the new facilities, personnel, and operational procedures. Mayor Oaminal said the soft-launching phase also allows the hospital team to identify and further determine what they need to improve on as well as to adjust to the new procedures.   Misamis Occidental--The Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental is now free from the claws of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People Army. This was declared during the change of command ceremony of the 903 rd Misamis Occidental Ready Reserve Infantry Battalion (RRIBn) on Sunday, March 24. Philippine Army's 1st Infantry (TABAK) Division commander, MGen Gabriel C. Viray said the remaining guerilla front operating between Misamis Occidental and Zamboanga Peninsula was finally dismantled in December last year. On March 3, the Armed Forces of the Philippines approved the recommendation of Misamis Occidental as an insurgency-free area. In the past, patients seeking treatment for animal bites were redirected to other accredited centers. As a result, patients have to suffer in long queues and financial burdens. MisOcc gov’t buys enough medicine supplies while saving P25-M

  Misamis Occidental--The Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental purchased a variety of drugs, medicines, and medical supplies sufficient for its five provincial-run hospitals, noting that it could financially save approximately P25 million. The MisOcc government assured the procurement process for the medicines was executed meticulously and the purchasing regulations were strictly observed. The procurement of supplies was originally budgeted at P73 million. The provincial government reduced the Approved Budget Contract to P57 million without compromising quality and the quantity of needed supplies. Its honest procurement practices also led to the final bidding of around P48 million, indicating significant savings to the government funds.
