Spike in tourism, economic opportunities eyed if MisOcc to host 2026 Palarong Pambansa

 


Hosting the 2026 Palarong Pambansa will not only boost the sports industry in Misamis Occidental but will also increase tourism and economic opportunities in the province.

Leading the province’s presentation before the Palarong Pambansa Board at the DepEd Central Office, Gov. Henry S. Oaminal showcased what the Misamis Occidental can offer it is allowed to host prestigious sports events catering to thousands of athletes across the country.

Gov. Oaminal underscored the sports event will serve as a “testament of the government to embed the ideals of unity, sportsmanship, and the pursuit of excellence to the young athletes.

Governor Oaminal said the Palarong Pambansa will help boost tourism in the entire Misamis Occidental, emphasizing the province’s readiness to accommodate a large number of delegations from different places nationwide.

The governor also stressed the province strictly adheres to the requirements for its bid to host the 2026 Palarong Pambansa.

He said the province is prepared when it comes to playing venues, billeting areas, security, peace and order, health and rescue, accessibility, the cooperation of all socio-economic-political groups, and the willingness to shoulder necessary expenses for sports event hosting “so that all delegations will experience extraordinary stay in the Misamis Occidental.”

Other provinces that also bid for hosting 2026 Palarong Pambansa are the Agusan del Sur and Zamboanga City. (SN/PGMO)
