Governor Henry S. Oaminal, in his keynote address, underscored the broader significance of disability prevention and rehabilitation. He emphasized that the initiative extends beyond medical care to include the fundamental aspects of human rights and dignity.

"Our collective responsibility is to dismantle the barriers—both physical and attitudinal—that prevent individuals with disabilities from fully participating in all aspects of life," Governor Oaminal said

The Governor highlighted this year’s theme, “Promoting Inclusion: Celebrating Abilities and Advocating Access,” as a call to action for all community members.

He praised the resilience of those living with disabilities and acknowledged the vital contributions of healthcare professionals, caregivers, and advocacy organizations in advancing the cause of disability prevention and rehabilitation. While acknowledging the progress made, he also pointed out that significant work remains to ensure that everyone in the community can lead a fulfilling life.

Governor Oaminal urged the audience to renew their commitment to building an inclusive society by advocating for accessibility, supporting rehabilitation programs, and raising awareness about the importance of early intervention and prevention. “Let us be allies in this important cause,” he urged, “and work together to ensure that every person can live with dignity and purpose.”

In closing, the Governor expressed his profound gratitude to everyone involved in these efforts, particularly individuals with disabilities, whose courage and determination inspire all. He also extended thanks to the professionals and advocates whose work profoundly impacts many lives.

He called on the community to unite in pursuit of a prosperous and harmonious Misamis Occidental, where disability is not a barrier to success but a challenge that can be overcome through collective effort and commitment.
