Over 3,200 students receive educational assistance in Misamis Occidental through OFOP; more slots coming in July
Misamis Occidental — More than 3,200
college students from the cities and municipalities of Panaon (32), Calamba
(49), Jimenez (48), Aloran (49), Oroquieta (388), Plaridel (144), Baliangao
(50), Conception (50), Lopez Jaena (50), Sapang Dalaga (75), Sangguniang
Panlalawigan Vice Governor Grantees (213), OLT (51), PGMO (158), Bonifacio
(73), Clarin (50), Don Victoriano (50), Ozamiz City - Province (620), Ozamiz
City LGU-funded (780), Sinacaban (41), Tangub City (178), Tangub City Global
College (70), and Tudela (50) received ₱5,000 each in educational assistance
through the One Family, One Professional (OFOP) Program 2nd Semester 2024–2025
payout this May 2025.
This initiative, led by the Provincial Government of
Misamis Occidental under the strong and compassionate leadership of Governor
Henry S. Oaminal, reinforces the province’s commitment to accessible education
and long-term support for Misamisnon families.
Governor Oaminal shared that the OFOP Program was
inspired by his personal journey as a working student—someone who struggled but
persevered to complete his education. Now, as a public servant, he is
determined to ensure that no young Misamisnon is left behind due to poverty.
One grateful beneficiary, Sharon Abal from Aloran, shared,“Nagpasalamat
ko ug dako ni Governor Henry Oaminal tungod sa iyahang dakong tabang kanako sa
akong pag-eskwela. Karon, third year college na ko sa Bachelor of Science in
Technology and Livelihood Education, Major in Home Economics. Dako gyud ni’g
natabang sa akong pamasahe, pagkaon, ug uban pang kinahanglanon sa eskwela.”
In response to strong demand, Governor Oaminal announced additional OFOP slots starting July 2025, including: 50 new slots each for Lopez Jaena, Baliangao, Sapang Dalaga, and Conception, 20 slots for Calamba Sacred Heart students, in coordination with the Catholic school, 30 slots per municipality for provincial colleges and 100 new slots each for Ozamiz and Tangub cities.
The Asenso Pamilya Program, a cornerstone of the
province’s commitment to education and empowerment, offers grantees the
opportunity to pursue either vocational or tertiary education. Each beneficiary
receives a ₱5,000 monthly stipend, amounting to ₱25,000 per semester. (SN/PGMO)
Around 700 college students from Panaon, Calamba,
Jimenez, Aloran, Oroquieta, and Plaridel received ₱5,000 each in educational
assistance through the One Family, One Professional (OFOP) Program during the
2nd Semester 2024–2025 payout on June 6, 2025. This marks the first batch of
the distribution.
