Gov. Oaminal calls for integrity, accountability in public service, reaffirms commitment to good governance

Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental—Governor Henry S. Oaminal reinforced his administration's unwavering commitment to the principles of good governance, urging Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental (PGMO) employees to embody integrity and accountability in their public service during the flag-raising ceremony on Monday, August 12.

Governor Oaminal emphasized the importance of accountability, transparency, and ethical conduct as cornerstones of effective leadership and public trust.

"Ever since I became a public servant and upon assuming the role of your Governor, I have always stressed the importance of adhering to the principles of good governance. This is vital for fostering trust, ensuring accountability, and achieving sustainable progress," Oaminal said.

Addressing concerns about irregular actions by some Capitol staff, Governor Oaminal delivered a stern warning against misconduct.

"Despite our continuous advocacy and reminders, there are still some employees who choose not to follow the path of good governance. This administration will not tolerate any wrongdoing because public service is a public trust. Necessary discipline will be imposed to ensure fairness to those who diligently and faithfully perform their duties," he asserted.

The Governor also took the opportunity to express his appreciation for the dedication of the PGMO employees. As a gesture of gratitude, he surprised them with unexpected allowances, underscoring his administration's efforts to secure benefits for all government workers.

"We have worked tirelessly to ensure that you, our employees, receive the benefits you deserve. Just as we have provided assistance to various sectors of our society, we have also strived to extend support to our employees," Oaminal remarked.

Governor Oaminal highlighted the recent executive order issued by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. that mandates a salary increase for government employees.

He assured the Capitol staff that the provincial government is ready to implement this increase as soon as the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) releases the necessary guidelines.

In closing, Governor Oaminal called on all PGMO employees to be role models in public service by living up to the administration's "5Ms" thrust—Mission-driven, Morally upright, Motivated, and Model employees, dedicated to serving the people with excellence.

"We are one family, and we should be united, supporting and cooperating with each other to achieve our goals," he concluded.

The Governor's message not only reinforced the importance of good governance but also demonstrated his administration's commitment to rewarding and motivating those who serve the province with integrity and dedication. (SMRN/PGMO)
