Transforming Futures: 1,857 MisOcc college students receive life-changing educational allowances through OFOP program
MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL—Empowering
them to achieve their educational aspirations and dreams, at least 1,857
college student grantees from various towns in Misamis Occidental received
their educational allowances, each receiving PHP 10,000 for the April–May period.
The heartwarming event took place at two venues, the Asenso Misamis Occidental Sports and Cultural Center in Oroquieta and the People’s Gymnasium in Tangub, on May 25.
This generous support is part of
the provincial government’s Asenso Pamilya: One Family, One Professional (OFOP)
Program, which is making dreams come true for many young Misamisnons. Governor
Henry Oaminal's unwavering dedication and proactive approach have been
instrumental in bringing this program to life.
Addressing the scholars, Governor
Oaminal emphasized the significance of hard work and determination in achieving
academic success. "This funding, which we worked hard to secure, is a
result of our diligent efforts and good financial management in our province.
Your only capital now is your hard work and dedication to your studies, as your
provincial government provides the necessary support," he said.
His interactions underscored the
transformative impact of this visionary educational initiative, which has
already benefited hundreds of Misamisnons, preparing them to graduate in their
chosen fields.
"We are committed to helping
you graduate because your success will contribute to the development of our
local community. When our community prospers, our people thrive, fulfilling one
of our core values—Misamisnon magpuyong Malambuon (Misamisnons living in
prosperity)," he added.
The OFOP program, a scholarship
initiative by the provincial government, aims to uplift lives through
education, particularly for families who have never had a professional among
them. Under the OFOP program, about 3,200 grantees enrolled in vocational or
tertiary education benefit from a monthly stipend of PHP 5,000 throughout the
school year. Each student receives this allowance as educational assistance, a
testament to the provincial government's commitment to nurturing the future
professionals of Misamis Occidental. (SN/PGMO)
