MisOcc launches program to support at-risk youth to create safer communities
OROQUIETA, Misamis Occidental —
The Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental, in collaboration with the
Provincial Council for the Protection of Children (PCPC), is spearheading a
Comprehensive Local Juvenile Intervention Program (CLJIP) aimed at rehabilitating
youth offenders and curbing criminal activities.
Convening on April 23-24, 2024,
at the Asenso Misamis Occidental Sports and Cultural Center in Oroquieta City,
stakeholders from various sectors gathered to formulate the CPJIP. Endorsed by
key stakeholders, including the Provincial Council on Anti-Trafficking, Child
Protection, and Violence Against Women and Children (PCAT-CP-VAWC), this
initiative marks a significant stride toward addressing juvenile issues and
providing support to vulnerable adolescents.
Governor Henry S. Oaminal's
steadfast commitment to proactive measures for at-risk youth and the prevention
of delinquency has been evident throughout his administration. His call for
collaboration underscores the need for comprehensive support systems for young
individuals facing challenges.
The CLJIP adopts a multifaceted
approach encompassing educational support, counseling, skills training, and
community engagement initiatives tailored to the diverse needs of youth. It
serves as a comprehensive response plan involving multiple sectors and agencies
of the government, as well as civil society organizations, with the overarching
goal of reducing new cases involving children at risk and facilitating their
rehabilitation and reintegration.
The program embraces diversion
and intervention programs, with a primary focus on intervening in specific
cases and fostering nurturing environments conducive to positive youth
development.
Under Governor Oaminal's
leadership, the Asenso administration reaffirms its commitment to prioritizing
the rights and welfare of children. Through active engagement with
stakeholders, the administration aims to effectively implement the provisions
of the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act (JJWA) and ensure the successful
execution of the CPJIP.
The Provincial Government,
through the PCPC, PCAT-CP-VAWC, and other partners, is dedicated to making this
program a success, focusing on tangible results and continuous improvement.
Together, they strive to reduce delinquency rates and enhance the well-being of
young people in Misamis Occidental.(PGMO)
