MisOcc Gov’t aligns flagship programs with President Marcos’ national agenda

Governor Henry Oaminal reaffirms strong support for the national priorities outlined by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. during his 2025 State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 28.

MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL — The Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental, led by Governor Henry Oaminal, has been supporting and implementing flagship programs over the past three years—and continues to do so—that strongly align with the goals, policies, and priorities outlined by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in his 2025 State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 28.

Governor Oaminal praised the President’s initiatives and affirmed the shared vision between the national and provincial governments.

“The President delivered a good report. It truly addresses the needs of the people. What he presented in his SONA is already being implemented here in Misamis Occidental,” Governor Oaminal said. “We stand united with the national government in advancing sustainable, inclusive, and people-centered development,” he said.

AGRICULTURE: Boosting Production, Lowering Costs

Under the Asenso Rice Farmers Full Assistance (ARFFA) Program, the province provides full-cycle support to rice farmers—from land preparation, seeds, and fertilizers, to post-harvest support and marketing. These interventions reduce production costs and boost farmer income.

Misamis Occidental also pioneered Baratong Bugas para sa Misamisnon (BBM Rice) in Mindanao—buying palay at premium prices from local farmers and selling the rice at only ₱20 per kilo through Asenso Kadiwa Centers, in support of the President’s “Kadiwa ng Pangulo” rice affordability agenda.

EDUCATION: Breaking the Cycle of Poverty

In response to President Marcos’ call for accessible education, the province implements the One Family, One Professional Program, providing ₱25,000 per semester to over 3,000 scholars, with the goal of ensuring one college graduate per Misamisnon family.

HEALTHCARE: Free and Accessible Services

Echoing the President’s “no balance billing” policy, Governor Oaminal implemented zero-balance billing across all government hospitals—and even extended this to private hospitals. As a result, over 100,000 Misamisnons now enjoy free hospitalization and dialysis.

The ₱1.2 billion Asenso Medical Center, now 85.5% complete, will soon expand provincial capacity to 500 beds, setting a new standard for provincial healthcare in Northern Mindanao.

TOURISM: Local Wonders on the Rise

Tourism is a key economic driver in the province. Projects like the Asenso Global Gardens and the Asenso Misamis Occidental Recreation and Adventure Park (AMORAP)—a Maldives-inspired destination—are nearing completion.

Tourism promotion efforts include new tour packages, aggressive marketing, and the revitalization of cultural and natural heritage, positioning Misamis Occidental as a top travel destination in Northern Mindanao.

PEACE & ORDER: Intensified Anti-Drug Campaign

Aligned with national directives, Governor Oaminal ordered local chief executives and barangay officials to closely monitor and act on illegal drug activities. Community-based efforts continue to drive the province’s push toward a drug-free Misamis Occidental.

INFRASTRUCTURE: Building Without Loans

Between 2022 and 2025, the province implemented ₱2.4 billion worth of infrastructure projects without incurring loans—a clear testament to fiscal discipline, transparency, and good governance using local funds alone.

SOCIAL SERVICES: Uplifting Every Misamisnon

The province also mirrors the national government’s priorities through key programs such as the ₱100,000 cash gift for centenarians, expanded financial assistance for senior citizens, sports development, livelihood initiatives, and other social protection services.

Governor Oaminal reaffirmed the province’s commitment to mirror and implement national reforms at the grassroots level—proving that when national vision meets strong local execution, real progress happens for every Misamisnon. (SN/PGMO)
