BFP-10 turns over new ambulance and firetruck to Misamis Occidental: A lifesaving boost for Ozamiz City and Don Victoriano

OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental—Taking a proactive measure for public safety and emergency response, the Bureau of Fire Protection-Region 10 (BFP-10) officially turned over one brand-new ambulance and one new firetruck to Misamis Occidental. The beneficiaries are the Local Government Unit of Ozamiz City and the Don Victoriano Fire Station.

The ceremonial turnover was witnessed by key officials including Governor Henry S. Oaminal, BFP Regional Director Fire Chief Superintendent Romel Tradio, Fire Senior Superintendent Gregorio Elbambo, Ozamiz City Mayor Sancho “Sam” Fuentes, Don Victoriano Mayor Bertoldo Murallon Jr., PNP Provincial Director Rommel Magleo, and BFP personnel.

In his message, FCSUPT Tradio highlighted that the turnover is a reflection of their unwavering dedication to community service. “This support and partnership with our LGUs are vital to achieving a modern, well-equipped, and highly capable emergency response system,” he said.

Governor Henry Oaminal, in his keynote message, emphasized the deeper meaning behind the equipment handover: “This is not just about turning over machines. These are lifelines. In every emergency, in every fire fought, in every life saved, these vehicles symbolize our commitment to serving and protecting the people,” he said.

The addition of these new units is a milestone in the province’s pursuit of a safer, more resilient, and responsive Misamis Occidental—aligned with the Asenso Misamis Occidental development vision and 5Ms thrust: Misamisnon Magpuyong Malinawon, Malambuon ug Malipayon.

The provincial government stressed that these are not just logistical tools, but powerful instruments of hope and public trust especially vital in remote and high-risk areas.

“To our brave firefighters—salamat kaayo sa inyong kadasig, dedikasyon, ug pag-alagad. You are the backbone of our emergency response. We honor your service and sacrifice,” Governor Oaminal added.

Ozamiz City Mayor Sam Norman Fuentes expressed his gratitude for being chosen as a recipient of the new ambulance: “Rest assured, we will provide full logistical support to maximize the use of this unit for the benefit of our people,” he said.

Don Victoriano Mayor Bertoldo Murallon Jr. also extended his heartfelt thanks saying,’’ This is the first time our municipality has received a brand-new unit. Dili gyud ni angay nga daan nga sakyanan kay Don Victoriano has steep, mountain roads. This firetruck will not only protect homes but also preserve our forests and tourism sites,” he shared.
