Oaminal, Team Asenso Win Landslide Victory in Misamis Occidental

 


MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL—The Oaminal family and Team Asenso achieved a sweeping landslide victory in Misamis Occidental, securing the Governor, Vice Governor, Board Members, both Congressional seats, 14 municipal mayors, 3 city mayors, vice mayors, councilors, and party-list positions.

On Monday afternoon, May 13, the Provincial Board of Canvassers officially proclaimed the winners of the 2025 midterm elections, marking what many described as a "tsunami victory" for Team Asenso in Misamis Occidental.

Re-elected Governor Henry Oaminal emerged victorious with 297,067 votes, leaving his rivals far behind—Samson Dumanjug with 38,330 votes, Marc Lester Malandaya with 1,256 votes, and Bibiano Salvanera with 416 votes.

In the congressional race, re-elected 2nd District Representative Sancho Fernando "Ando" Oaminal garnered 176,532 votes, defeating Rudy Luna, who received 125,84 votes.

Governor Oaminal expressed profound gratitude to the people of Misamis Occidental for their unwavering support:

“This marks my seventh election victory, and I must say that this election is the most orderly and peaceful one in the history of Misamis Occidental. This unprecedented success would not have been possible without the unwavering support of the Misamisnons. I call it unprecedented because, for the first time in our province's history, from the Governor, Vice Governor, Board Members, both Congressional representatives, to the 14 municipal mayors, 3 city mayors, vice mayors, and councilors—Team Asenso secured a straight, overwhelming victory. Not a single seat was lost. This outcome reflects the confidence and trust the people have placed in our leadership.”

Oaminal also acknowledged the orderly conduct of the elections, attributing it to the maturity and discipline of the Misamisnons.

“The peaceful process is a testament to the growth and responsibility shown by our people during this election. I am deeply grateful to our leaders—from the provincial level to the barangays, our soldiers, service providers, our hardworking core team, and everyone who played a part in this success.”

He extended his gratitude on behalf of Vice Governor Gutierrez, the two congressmen, board members, 14 municipal mayors, 3 city mayors, the entire board, the Commission on Elections, law enforcers—the Philippine National Police, Philippine Army—and all who contributed to making the elections the most orderly and peaceful in Misamis Occidental’s history.

“Your collective efforts made this historic victory possible. Thank you,” he shared.

Re-elected Vice Governor Rowena Gutierrez also claimed a resounding win with 285,168 votes, defeating Ruel Yap, who garnered 38,505 votes.

Re-elected 1st District Representative Jason Almonte secured 122,329 votes, prevailing over Roy Yap, who received 28,542 votes.

The Provincial Board of Canvassers also proclaimed the following winners for the Provincial Board:

1st District Board Members (re-elected): Alex Guantero (112,843), Winston Catane (111,501), Tata Paylaga-Lim (109,492), Donna Iyog (107,074), Agnes Villanueva (105,902).

2nd District Board Members (re-elected): Eduardo Cebedo (157,546), Calven Tito Decina (159,788), Henjie Estaño (156,061), Emie Lahaylahay (155,652), Jerry Cuizon (155,527).

Vice Governor Rowena Gutierrez is proclaimed vice-governor of Misamis Occidental, her second term on May 13, 2025 after receiving more than 280,000 votes in the National and Local Midterm Elections 2025.

Misamis Occidental Provincial Board of Canvassers proclaims Jason Paredes Almonte as Congressman-elect of the 1st District of Misamis Occidental.

Congressman Ando Oaminal is re-elected representative of Misamis Occidental’s second congressional district proclaimed by the provincial board of canvassers today, May 13, 2025.

Provincial Board Members of the first and second districts were also proclaimed.
