Misamis Occidental attributes economic, social growth to the '5Ms' framework

Misamis Occidental – The provincial government of Misamis Occidental has made significant strides in economic and social development, largely attributing its success to the implementation of the "5Ms" framework, which has been central to its initiatives this year.

In his message, Governor Henry Oaminal shared that the core values of the 5Ms—Matinahuron (Respectful), Matinud-anon (Truthful), Matinabangon (Helpful), and Mahigugmaon (Loving)—have been key to uniting the province in its pursuit of economic and social progress.

“We have made significant progress this year in strengthening our communities, growing our economy, and improving the overall quality of life for all Misamisnons,” Governor Oaminal remarked.

Under his leadership, notable achievements have been realized, particularly in infrastructure development, with over PHP3 billion invested in projects including multipurpose facilities, road concreting, and water systems. These initiatives are not only enhancing the province’s infrastructure but also stimulating growth in tourism, healthcare, and education sectors.

One of the major milestones this year includes the province’s free hospitalization program, which has benefited over 42,000 individuals. Additionally, the Asenso Misamis Occidental Medical Center is now 70 percent complete and is expected to open its doors next year.

In agriculture, the Asenso Rice Farmers Full Assistance program has made a significant impact by boosting rice production, with an impressive average yield of 5.3 metric tons per hectare.

The Asenso Pamilya: One Family, One Professional program has also made a difference, assisting 2,862 beneficiaries, of which 343 have graduated from various professional courses.

“These initiatives demonstrate the strength of unity and collective effort,” Governor Oaminal emphasized, noting that the province’s continued commitment to improving the lives of its residents remains steadfast. (SN/PGMO)
