Gov. Oaminal leads unified effort to outline MisOcc’s 2025 initiatives, focusing on social services and infrastructure
Misamis Occidental –Governor Henry S. Oaminal, joined by 1st District Representative Jason Almonte, Vice Governor Rowena Gutierrez, Provincial Administrator Ronald Ryan Cui, and local mayors and board members, led a key Joint Leadership Meeting to outline the province’s initiatives for 2025.
The meeting focused on crucial
programs in social services, and infrastructure aimed at improving the lives of
Misamisnons. Governor Oaminal highlighted ongoing progress under the Asenso
Misamis Occidental framework, with notable advancements in health, tourism,
education agriculture, and public services.
Strengthening Agriculture for
Self-Sufficiency
Governor Oaminal emphasized the
province's goal of achieving rice self-sufficiency, which will boost
agricultural output and lower costs for both farmers and consumers.
“Our target is clear: increase
rice production to reduce costs for farmers and make rice more affordable for
consumers. This will not only raise farmers' incomes but also help lift them
out of poverty. Many of our farmers rely on just two harvests a year, and by
improving their productivity, we can significantly enhance their economic
well-being,” he shared.
He added, “Increasing production
will also reduce our dependency on rice imports, ensuring a more sustainable
supply for our province. This is a win-win for both the agricultural sector and
the general public.”
Improving Healthcare Services
In healthcare, Governor Oaminal
reiterated efforts to enhance government hospitals by partnering with agencies
like PhilHealth, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), the
Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and the Department of
Health (DOH) and Senators. These collaborations ensure free medical assistance,
especially for indigent patients.
“This ensures that our people,
especially the underserved, have access to quality healthcare,” Governor
Oaminal explained. “By upgrading our services, we can also generate income for
our hospitals, benefiting both the health sector and the people of Misamis
Occidental.”
Addressing Road Safety
Concerns
Governor Oaminal also addressed
the growing concern of motorcycle-related accidents, urging local leaders to
enforce speed limits and helmet use to reduce accidents and protect the safety
of Misamisnons.
Financial Transparency and
Governance
During the meeting, Governor
Oaminal provided a comprehensive update on the province’s financial standing,
reassuring the public of transparent governance and sound fiscal management.
“We are committed to making 2025
a year of progress, safety, and prosperity for all Misamisnons,” he concluded,
reaffirming his administration’s dedication to serving the people’s needs. (SN/PGMO)
