In a significant milestone for Misamis Occidental, Governor Henry Oaminal has led the province’s push for infrastructure and agricultural advancement with the approval of a Php 125-million Farm-to-Market Road (FMR) project.

The Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP Scale-Up) granted a No Objection Letter 1 (NOL 1) on January 10, 2025, enabling the construction of the 12.32-kilometer Panalsalan - Cartegana - Luzaran - Dampalan - Macalibre Alto FMR, which will serve the municipalities of Lopez Jaena and Plaridel.

The awarding ceremony, attended by DA-10 Regional Executive Director Jose Apollo Y. Pacamalan, was a testament to Governor Oaminal’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure for agricultural development.

"This project is a vital step in improving the lives of our farmers and residents. It strengthens our vision of creating a prosperous, peaceful, and thriving Misamis Occidental," said Governor Oaminal, who personally received the award on behalf of the province.

The project, once completed, will boost agricultural productivity and accessibility, enabling farmers to transport goods more efficiently to markets, thus enhancing the local economy. Under the governor’s leadership, the province is poised to benefit from this key infrastructure development, marking a significant achievement in the province’s development agenda: Asenso Misamis Occidental.

With NOL 1 granted, the next phase includes procurement training for the Local Government Unit to ensure that all procedures meet World Bank standards, ensuring swift and effective implementation of the project.

Governor Oaminal’s tireless advocacy for rural development and agricultural growth continues to drive Misamis Occidental toward a future of greater prosperity and improved livelihoods for its people. (SN/PGMO)
