BBM Asenso Rice Program: Affordable Rice and Empowerment for Misamisnon Farmers
Misamis Occidental—The Provincial
Government of Misamis Occidental, under the leadership of Governor Henry S.
Oaminal, launched the Baratong Bugas para sa mga Misamisnon (BBM) Asenso Rice
Program from January 13-17 in the municipalities of Jimenez, Aloran, and
Sinacaban. Aligned with the national Kadiwa ng Pangulo program, this initiative
offers affordable rice at ₱43 per kilo while supporting local farmers.
Through the Asenso Rice Farmers
Full Assistance Program, farmers receive comprehensive support—from land
preparation to post-harvest facilities and marketing—boosting production,
reducing costs, and increasing incomes. Rice produced in the province is sold
exclusively to Misamisnons, ensuring affordability for families and
contributing to food security.
“Through this program, we aim to
provide quality rice at a lower price for Misamisnons while empowering our
local farmers,” Governor Oaminal said.
A key feature of the program is its marketing component, which has significantly increased production output, contributed to the province’s Gross domestic product (GDP), and supported economic stability. By keeping locally grown rice within the province, the program directly benefits Misamisnons and ensures affordable, high-quality rice for the community.
Governor Oaminal envisions Misamis Occidental as a model of self-sufficiency, where sustainable agriculture drives economic growth and food security. Backed by a ₱100-million allocation, this program reinforces his commitment to the province’s 5Ms mantra: Asenso Misamis Occidental; Misamisnon Magpuyong Malinawon, Malambuon, ug Malipayon (Peaceful, Prosperous, and Happy Misamisnon).
As the BBM Asenso Rice Program
expands across the province, it sets a benchmark for sustainable agricultural
development, food security, and economic growth in Misamis Occidental.
