Asenso free hospitalization program benefits more than 42,000 individuals in Misamis Occidental

The Gonzales family from Barangay Langub in Calamba experienced relief when their hospital bill of ₱744,483.84 was fully covered, resulting in a zero balance. In their time of sorrow, Natividad Mananaog expressed her gratitude to Governor Henry Oaminal for his steadfast support during their most challenging moments.

Misamis Occidental – The Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental's Free Hospitalization Program has provided essential medical assistance to more than 42,000 individuals, marking a significant milestone in the administration of Working Governor Henry S. Oaminal. This flagship initiative, aimed at alleviating the financial burden of healthcare, continues to transform the lives of Misamisnons.

Managed by the Humanitarian Service Office, the program covers medical, hospitalization, and burial expenses, ensuring that residents receive critical care without the worry of costly bills.

A powerful example of the program’s far-reaching benefits comes from the Gonzales family of Barangay Langub, Calamba. After facing a substantial hospital bill of ₱744,483.84, the family found relief when the provincial government covered the entire cost, leaving them with no outstanding balance.

In a moment of deep loss, Natividad Mananaog, the mother of Jean Gonzales, expressed heartfelt gratitude, especially to Governor Henry Oaminal, whose steadfast support made all the difference during their toughest times. This inspiring story underscores the profound effect of compassionate leadership and the Asenso administration's commitment to providing essential health services to those in need.

"Nagpasalamat ko ug dako, lalo na ni Gov. Henry Oaminal," said the mother. "Dako kaayo siya ug tabang sa akong problema, labi na sa pagkamatay sa akong anak. Dili lang sa hospital, kundi sa daghan pa nga aspeto. Bisag karong Pasko, puno kami sa kalipay, kay si Gov nagtabang gyud ug dako, gikan sa grocery, pagkaon, ug bugas. Bisag namatay akong anak, nasulbad ra gihapon akong problema."

(I am deeply grateful, especially to Gov. Henry Oaminal," said Natividad. "He has been a huge help to my family, not just with hospital expenses, but in many other ways. Even during Christmas, our hearts are filled with joy because Gov. Oaminal extended his generosity through groceries, food, and rice. Despite the loss of my child, my burdens have been eased.)

Governor Oaminal expressed, “Our Free Hospitalization Program has assisted over 42,000 individuals, and with the Asenso Medical Center now 70% complete, we expect it to open next year, further enhancing healthcare access in the province."

Since its inception in July 2022, the program has expanded to cover both government and private hospitals, recognizing the substantial financial strain medical expenses place on families.

The Free Hospitalization and Free Funeral Services programs are integral parts of the Padayon Asenso Misamis Occidental initiative, which seeks to ease the financial pressures families face during difficult times.

Governor Oaminal emphasized that these initiatives are vital to the province's ongoing efforts to ensure equitable access to healthcare and social services for all residents.

Misamis Occidental has received widespread praise for its innovative approach to governance, and the success of these programs stands as a testament to the administration’s commitment to the well-being of its people.

Local officials and residents have expressed deep appreciation for the continued support, with hopes for further program expansions as the province continues its path of growth and development under Governor Oaminal’s leadership.

These efforts align with the administration’s broader agenda of improving infrastructure, healthcare services, and inclusive growth, positioning Misamis Occidental as a model of effective public service in the region. (SN/PGMO)
