MisOcc Gov Henry Oaminal, 2nd District Rep. Ando Oaminal file reelection bid for 2025 polls
Misamis Occidental incumbent
Governor Henry Oaminal and Second District Representative Sancho Fernando
“Ando” Oaminal officially launched their bids for reelection in the upcoming
2025 elections.
The two were accompanied by
fellow reelectionists Vice Governor Rowena Gutierrez and 1st District
Representative Jason Almonte as they filed their Certificates of Candidacy
(CoC) at the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) office in Oroquieta City.
In a statement, Governor Oaminal
expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity to continue fostering positive
development in Misamis Occidental for another term. “As soon as we took this
position, we immediately prioritized peace and order in the province,” he
stated. He highlighted a remarkable decrease in the average monthly crime rate,
which fell from 24.52% in 2016 to just 13.64% in the first half of 2024.
Notably, Misamis Occidental has also been officially declared insurgency-free
this year.
“Our Asenso Misamis platform is
built on the belief that healthy, peaceful, and safe communities are the
pillars of progress. I am proud to say that we are actively making this a
reality in Misamis Occidental,” he added.
Among Governor Oaminal’s
significant initiatives is the Free Hospitalization Program, which has provided
essential support to over 42,000 individuals, with financial assistance
exceeding P186.5 million.
The province also recently
celebrated the opening of the Panguil Bay Bridge—a project proposed by Oaminal
more than ten years ago during his early days in Congress. This bridge, now the
longest sea-crossing bridge in Mindanao, connects Misamis Occidental to Lanao
del Norte, drastically reducing travel time from over two hours to just seven
minutes.
Representative Ando Oaminal
echoed his father’s optimism, expressing confidence that Misamisnons will grant
them the opportunity to continue their service. “We believe that as long as we
do our best—acting as their effective voice in Congress and ensuring their
needs are met—we will continue to earn the trust of the people,” he said.
“We are grateful for the
privilege to serve, and we are committed to delivering further achievements for
Misamis Occidental,” Rep. Oaminal added.
Since 2022, the Oaminal
administration has spearheaded the 5Ms development thrust, encapsulating their
vision for the province. The 5Ms—Misamisnon Magpuyong Malinawon, Malambuon, ug
Malipayon (Misamisnon Live Peacefully, Prosperously, and Happily)—serve as a
guiding principle for the local government’s programs and initiatives.
As the Oaminals gear up for the
election, they remain dedicated to building a brighter future for the people of
Misamis Occidental.
