Misamis Occidental celebrates landmark victory: declared Insurgency-Free
MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL---In a historic celebration in Misamis Occidental, Governor
Henry S. Oaminal expressed profound gratitude and pride as he welcomed
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. to two historic events: the
inauguration of the Panguil Bay Bridge and the formal declaration of the
province as insurgency-free.
“Today, we commemorate a
hard-fought victory for peace and progress in our beloved Misamis Occidental,”
Governor Oaminal said, acknowledging the challenges the province faced from
insurgency over the past decades.
He reflected on the generational
struggles that plagued the region, noting, “It was not an easy road. Those
years of conflict challenged the resilience of my fellow Misamisnons.”
Governor Oaminal emphasized the
importance of infrastructure in combating insurgency.
“Where the roads begin,
insurgency ends,” he said, highlighting the significant progress made in
improving access to essential services and boosting economic activities through
the construction of roads and bridges.
Under his leadership, initiatives
such as the Asenso Rice Farmers' Full Assistance Program and the Asenso Pamilya
educational grants have transformed the socio-economic landscape of the
province.
“We have seen our rice yields
increase significantly, and more families now have access to education,” he
noted.
The governor also acknowledged
the vital role of the national government in these successes, expressing
gratitude to President Marcos for his unwavering support.
“Your presence today proves how
much you care for the Misamisnons,” he said.
In a powerful message to the
community, Oaminal concluded, “This celebration is not just a testament to our
victory over insurgency; it is a symbol of hope and unity for a brighter
future.”
He urged everyone to continue
nurturing peace as the foundation for sustainable progress in Misamis
Occidental. (SN/PGMO)
