Governor Oaminal: Panguil Bay Bridge opens new doors of opportunity for Mindanao
MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL---The long-awaited Panguil Bay Bridge was
officially inaugurated, marking a significant milestone for Misamis Occidental,
Lanao del Norte, and the entire Mindanao region on September 27, 2024.
Governor Henry S. Oaminal delivered an inspiring message
during the ceremony, emphasizing the bridge's importance as a gateway to new
opportunities and progress.
"Today, we celebrate what was once deemed impossible—a
monumental achievement for our region," Governor Oaminal said.
"The inauguration of the Panguil Bay Bridge opens new
doors to opportunity and progress, proving that with hard work and
collaboration, dreams can indeed come true," he added.
The bridge, which connects Tangub City, Misamis Occidental
and Tubod, Lanao Del Norte, is the culmination of decades of aspirations,
dating back to the 1970s.
Governor Oaminal recounted the persistent efforts of past
and present leaders who worked tirelessly to bring the project to fruition.
He expressed gratitude to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for
his unwavering support, highlighting that the bridge is a testament to the
collaborative spirit that has characterized its development.
“Our shared vision gained traction in 2013 when I championed
the project in Congress, rallying support from key government agencies to
secure its funding. Despite setbacks and challenges, we persisted, and with the
invaluable backing of the Republic of Korea, we reached this remarkable day,”
he recalled.
In his remarks, Governor Oaminal emphasized the bridge's
transformative potential for local economies, saying, “This bridge will not
only facilitate faster travel but will also significantly enhance economic
activities across Mindanao.”
He urged for the establishment of a unified management team
for the bridge to ensure its optimal maintenance and operation, calling for
collaborative efforts among local stakeholders.
As the Panguil Bay Bridge officially opened, it became a
symbol of hope and progress for the people of Mindanao. The successful
completion of this vital infrastructure project signifies a new era of
connectivity and growth for the region. (SN/PGMO)
