1,580 Misamis Occidental capitol workers voluntary undergo surprise drug test
Misamis Occidental (PGMO)—Approximately
1,580 Capitol employees and officials voluntarily participated in a surprise
drug test immediately following the flag ceremony at the Asenso Misamis
Occidental Sports and Cultural Center in Oroquieta City. This initiative
coincided with the celebration of the 124th Civil Service Month.
In a proactive effort to maintain
a healthy and productive work environment, Misamis Occidental Governor Henry S.
Oaminal mandated the drug testing to ensure that all provincial government
workers are free from prohibited substances.
Organized by the province through
the Provincial Human Resource Office, the Misamis Occidental Provincial
Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MOPADAC), and the Integrated Provincial Health Office
(IPHO), this initiative was supported by medical technicians from the five PGMO
hospitals. It underscores the province's commitment to the well-being of its
workforce.
“The provincial government is
doing its part to ensure a drug-free workplace,” Governor Oaminal said.
The drug testing aligns with the
provisions of Provincial Ordinance No. 64-16, which enacts the drug-free
workplace program for the Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental. This
program is a testament to the province's dedication to providing a safe work
environment and promoting the health of employees, clients, their families, and
the broader community.
Any employee who tests positive
for drug use will undergo a confirmatory test and a Drug Dependency Evaluation
(DDE) to determine the appropriate intervention based on the results.
In addition to the drug test, a
Wellness Check was offered, featuring health assessments such as Prostate
Specific Antigen (PSA) tests and X-ray screenings. (SN/PGMO)
