MisOcc gov't delivers essential aid to fire victims in Barangay Labo, Ozamiz

 


OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental —Governor Henry S. Oaminal, Mayor Indy Oaminal, Second District Representative Ando Oaminal, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) extended aid to two families affected by a devastating fire in Barangay Labo on August 3, 2024. This initiative, part of a broader effort by Team Asenso, aims to provide immediate and comprehensive assistance to those in need.

During the distribution, Board Member Eduardo Cebedo, representing Governor Oaminal, emphasized the provincial government’s commitment to supporting its constituents in times of crisis. Councilor Jun Carlo Murallon represented Mayor Oaminal at the event.

"In times of crisis, it is crucial that we come together as a community to support one another. The assistance provided today is not just about financial aid; it is about showing these families that they are not alone and that we are here to help them rebuild their lives," Board Member Cebedo remarked.

The affected families received a total of P45,000 in cash, along with essential goods such as canned foods, rice, water, family food packs, family kits, hygiene kits, kitchen kits, and sleeping kits. This support aims to help the families recover from their losses and start rebuilding their lives.

The family of Malou D. Colango, whose house was completely destroyed in the fire, received significant financial aid. They were provided with P25,000 in cash from the Asenso Ozamiz administration, P10,000 from the provincial government, and an additional P10,000 from the DSWD. This generous support is intended to cover immediate needs and provide a foundation for the family to begin rebuilding their home.

Meanwhile, the family of Amaverly A. Sumalpong, whose house was partially damaged, also received substantial assistance. They were given P15,000 from the Asenso Ozamiz administration, P5,000 from the provincial government, and P10,000 from the DSWD. This aid aims to help the family repair their home and replace essential items lost in the fire.

The DSWD team, led by CSWD Chief Marivic Kaamiño, along with Barangay Captain Elvira Malig-on and other community leaders, ensured that the assistance was delivered promptly and efficiently.

The comprehensive response to the fire in Barangay Labo highlights the dedication of Team Asenso to serving the community. By providing immediate financial assistance and essential goods, the team has alleviated some of the burdens faced by the affected families. (SN/PGMO)
