Misamis Occidental launches historic initiative to secure school sites

OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental---In a groundbreaking effort to protect educational institutions and secure the future of students, the Department of Education (DepEd) Misamis Occidental, in partnership with the Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental launched a historic initiative to title school sites held at the Asenso Misamis Occidental Sports and Cultural Center, Capitol Drive, Oroquieta City, on August 28, 2024.

This ambitious project, supported by Governor Henry S. Oaminal and partner agencies including the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO), the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), and the Registry of Deeds, aims to fortify the security of school properties across the province.

The initiative seeks to prevent the disposal, sale, or legal encumbrance of school lands by formalizing their ownership.

By titling these vital educational sites, the program ensures that schools are safeguarded from potential legal disputes and financial liabilities, thereby preserving their role as learning and community development centers.

The project’s launch included a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing ceremony, an overview of titling and regulatory processes, and the establishment of a one-stop shop for special patients and permit applications.

Governor Henry S. Oaminal’s steadfast commitment to this cause reflects a broader vision of fostering a stable and secure environment for students to thrive.

"This project is not just about securing land; it's about ensuring that our children have a safe and permanent place to learn and grow," Governor Oaminal remarked.

The collaborative effort also highlights the significant role of various agencies working together towards a common goal—protecting and sustaining educational infrastructure for future generations.

The DepEd, alongside the DENR, PENRO, CENRO, and the Registry of Deeds, will oversee the titling process, ensuring that all legal and administrative requirements are met efficiently.

This initiative stands as a testament to the province’s dedication to educational excellence and its unwavering support for the development and well-being of its young learners.

As Misamis Occidental paves the way for securing school sites, it sets a powerful example for other regions, demonstrating how concerted efforts and visionary leadership can create lasting impacts on education and community stability. (SN/PGMO)
