Governor Oaminal rallies gov't agencies for accelerated recovery efforts in MisOcc
OROQUIETA CITY, MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL — In a decisive
move to accelerate recovery efforts from the December 2022 shear line calamity,
Governor Henry Oaminal convened with key agencies and officials on July 29 at
the SP Session Hall, Capitol. The meeting included representatives from the Office
of the Civil Defense (OCD), National Irrigation Authority (NIA), and the
Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), alongside members of the
Sangguniang Panlalawigan, mayors, and other provincial offices.
The primary focus of this assembly was the Post-Disaster
Needs Assessment (PDNA), a critical step in addressing the extensive damage
caused by the calamity. Governor Oaminal emphasized the urgency of expediting
the implementation of proposed infrastructure projects, which will be funded by
the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (NDRRM).
“On behalf of the provincial government and the people of
Misamis Occidental, I would like to thank our OCD officials, NIA, DPWH, and
Department heads. We look forward to what transpired this meeting will help
expedite the implementation of the projects from the national governments in
response to the shear line calamity,’’ Governor Oaminal said.
Governor Oaminal’s commitment to rebuilding and
strengthening the communities in the province is evident through this
collaborative effort. By working closely with key agencies, the aim is to
ensure that necessary resources and support are mobilized swiftly to restore
normalcy and enhance resilience against future disasters.
Key reconstruction and rehabilitation projects
The coordinated efforts highlight the provincial
government's dedication to addressing immediate needs and implementing
long-term solutions to mitigate the impact of future calamities. The meeting
underscored the importance of collaboration and proactive planning in disaster
response and recovery.
The proposed projects for NDRRM funding include: reconstruction
of Tabok Norte Provincial Road, reconstruction of President’s Bridge Program
and reconstruction of Tolyok Bridge in Oroquieta City, reconstruction of Paca
River Revetment along Pan-ay River in Clarin, reconstruction of Flood
Control/Coastal Protection in Barangay Lutaw, rehabilitation of Flood Control
in Barangay Punta, Panaon, rehabilitation of Inlet and Outlet Cut-off Wall and
Stone Masonry in Barangay Lao/Southern Poblacion, Plaridel, rehabilitation of
Stone Masonry Seawall in Purok Rumpe, Sinonoc, Sinacaban
For Tudela, the proposed projects include: the reconstruction
of Flood Control in Barangay Pan-ay Diot, Locsoon, the reconstruction of Flood
Control in Barangay Taguima and the reconstruction of Flood Control in Barangay
Upper Centro.
Governor Oaminal’s leadership and the collaborative efforts
of all involved stakeholders are pivotal in ensuring that Misamis Occidental
emerges stronger and more resilient from this calamity. The province is
