DSWD-10, MisOcc gov’t grants 200k cash gift to Baliangao centenarian
BALIANGAO, Misamis Occidental—In a heartwarming celebration, Roberto P. Laranjo, a resident of Purok 3, Barangay Misom in Baliangao, was honored on his 100th birthday with a special gift of PHP 200,000.
The provincial government of
Misamis Occidental and President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.
through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) awarded him
with a generous cash grant, as a token of the nation's deep respect and appreciation
for its centenarians.
The milestone celebration was
held at the Aya Hotel, providing Roberto with a festive meal and a splendid
birthday cake, creating an unforgettable day for him.
Governor Henry S. Oaminal,
together with the staff from the Provincial Social Welfare and Development
Office (PSWDO) and the DSWD, presented Roberto with a symbolic message from
President Marcos and a substantial cash gift, symbolizing the community’s gratitude
for his century of life.
Roberto was visibly moved by the
gesture, expressing his heartfelt appreciation for the unexpected birthday
surprise and the financial support provided by both the national and provincial
governments.
His story serves as a testament
to the strength and resilience that comes with a long life, inspiring the

This event underscores the
province's unwavering commitment to honoring and valuing the elderly,

The centenarian cash grant is
part of the benefits mandated under Republic Act 10868, also known as the
Centenarian Act of 2016, which seeks to honor Filipino centenarians with
additional benefits and privileges.
