Governor Oaminal puts up relief warehouse for swift disaster response in MisOcc

OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental — In a significant step towards enhancing disaster preparedness, Governor Henry S. Oaminal has established a relief warehouse in Misamis Occidental. This facility aims to expedite the government's response during calamities, ensuring that aid reaches affected residents swiftly.

Governor Oaminal, together with Vice Governor Rowena Gutierrez, and DSWD-10 Assistant Regional Director for Operations Ronald Ryan Cui led the inauguration of the PGMO-DSWD Relief Warehousing Facility on June 24. The facility, located at the PEO Compound in Lower Lamac, Oroquieta, is a crucial addition to the province's disaster preparedness infrastructure.

The relief warehouse is envisioned as a strategic hub for storing and distributing relief goods during emergencies. It ensures organized and timely responses to the needs of residents affected by disasters across the province.

During the inauguration, Governor Oaminal challenged the employees of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development Office (DSWDO) to work tirelessly towards achieving the vision of "Asenso Misamis Occidental," which aims for a peaceful, prosperous, and happy Misamisnon community.

Cui expressed his gratitude for the partnership with the province under Governor Oaminal's leadership. He highlighted the importance of the warehouse in prepositioning relief goods and non-food aid for immediate disaster response, which will expedite DSWD operations in the province.

"On behalf of our Regional Director Ramil F. Jamen, I extend my sincere thanks for this partnership. The purpose of this warehouse is to ensure we can respond immediately in the event of a disaster, like the recent shear line incident. This facility will be a significant help," Cui shared.

The blessing and turnover of the new facility mark an improved delivery of programs and services aligned with the province's mantra that all Misamisnons should live peacefully, prosperously, and happily.

This strategic initiative underscores the provincial government's commitment to disaster readiness and the welfare of its residents, ensuring that Misamis Occidental is well-prepared to handle emergencies and provide necessary aid efficiently. (SN/PGMO)
