DPWH Secretary Bonoan graces final concrete pouring for Panguil Bay Bridge completion

TANGUB CITY, Misamis Occidental—The Panguil Bay Bridge Project has reached a historic milestone with the final concrete pouring ceremony, signifying a monumental step forward for the people of Misamis Occidental and Lanao Del Norte. The event was graced by key figures, including DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, Undersecretaries Emil K. Sadain and Carlos G. Mutuc, Misamis Occidental Governor Henry Oaminal, Lanao Del Norte Governor Imelda "Angging" Dimaporo, Ozamiz Mayor Indy Oaminal, Tangub Mayor Sabiniano "Ben" Canama, and other local officials.

In his address, Secretary Bonoan underscored the bridge's significance, stating, "Today marks a historic milestone for the people of Lanao Del Norte and Misamis Occidental as we witness the last concrete pouring of the Panguil Bay Bridge Project. This event is not just a construction milestone; it symbolizes the realization of a long-held dream for our communities."

Bonoan expressed deep gratitude to all stakeholders, including contractors, consultants, engineers, construction workers, local officials, and community members, for their vital roles in the project's progress. "As we look forward to the final stages of this project, let us remember that the true purpose of this bridge is to connect, uplift, and inspire. This bridge will stand as a monument to our shared aspirations and our commitment to building a better future for all," he emphasized.

Once completed, the Panguil Bay Bridge, soon to be the longest bridge in Mindanao at 3.169 kilometers, will dramatically reduce travel time between Tangub, Misamis Occidental, and Tubod, Lanao del Norte from 2.5 hours to just seven minutes, significantly easing the transit of commercial goods. Funded by the Korea EximBank's Economic Development Cooperation Fund, the bridge will serve as a vital link between the two provinces, fostering unity and economic growth.

More than a structure of steel and concrete, the Panguil Bay Bridge represents a lasting connection between two provinces in Northern Mindanao. It stands as a testament to international cooperation and shared progress, reflecting years of planning, hard work, and dedication from all involved.
