MisOcc provincial government awards cash incentives to NMRAA medalists

 


OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental— In a remarkable show of support for local athletes, the provincial government of Misamis Occidental has awarded cash incentives to student-athletes who won medals in the Northern Mindanao Regional Athletic Association (NMRAA) Meet, on June 14.

Gold medalists were rewarded with P50,000 per medal tally, silver medalists with P20,000, and bronze medalists with P10,000 Every athlete, including medalists, also received P3,000 each. Furthermore, coaches and trainers were recognized with special cash incentives, highlighting the unified commitment to athletic triumph.

Governor Henry S. Oaminal led the distribution of the cash incentives, recognizing the outstanding performances of the One Asenso MisOcc Athletes at the NMRAA 2024.

Governor Oaminal emphasized that this initiative reflects the provincial government's commitment to honoring the achievements of its athletes. “Ang inyong performance sa miaging regional meet competition naghatag ug dugang pasidungog sa atoang probinsya. Ako nga inyong Governor, si Vice Governor Wheng ug ang atong provincial officials, municipal officials, we are proud of you,” he expressed.

The governor also announced that the province will give a cash reward of P50,000 for each gold medalist in the upcoming Palarong Pambansa, this July 2024 at Cebu City.

MisOcc Schools Division Superintendent Reynaldo Manuel extended gratitude to the provincial government for its unwavering support of the sports programs and various activities of DepEd. “Kami tanan sa DepEd Misocc, DepEd Oroquieta, DepEd Ozamiz, DepEd Tangub, Gov. dako gyud kaayo among pasalamat sa imong suporta nga gihatag namo sa sports kung asa kami nakadugang paghatag sa inspiration sa atong Kabataan,” Manuel added.

Benerando O. Basan also expressed his heartfelt thanks for the significant support, including P150,000 in cash incentives, free education up to college, and a new home provided by the Governor. “Nalipay ko, daghan kaayong salamat sa pagsuporta niya ka namo,” he said.

James Gabriel Cagang, a para-games swimming athlete from Barangay Tawi-Tawi, Aloran, shared his joy, saying, “Malipayon kaayo kay nakadawat ko para ipausab nako sa among balay. Salamat kaayo ni Governor gitagaan mi niya og cash nga makatabang sa among pamilya. Padayon sa pagtabang sa mga Kabataan.”

The province secured the 3rd overall champion title in the elementary level category and fifth in the overall medal tally with 52 gold, 56 silver, and 77 bronze medals during the 2024 Northern Mindanao Regional Athletic Association (NMRAA) Meet in Camiguin.

This initiative highlights the Asenso Administration's dedication to fostering talent, encouraging sportsmanship, and supporting the youth of Misamis Occidental. (SN/PGMO)
