50,904 senior citizens in MisOcc enjoy increased social pension
Misamis Occidental—Over 50,904 indigent senior
citizens in Misamis Occidental are celebrating an increase in their social
pension, provided by the national government under the leadership of President
Bongbong Marcos and with the support of Speaker Martin Romualdez. The
Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-10 representatives, the Provincial
Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), and the City Social Welfare and
Development Office (CSWDO) facilitated the distribution from June 4-14 in
various towns and cities across the province.
This initiative was made possible by Governor
Henry Oaminal, with the support of the two congressmen in Misamis Occidental. Gov.
Oaminal, Vice Governor Rowena Gutierrez, board members, and mayors spearheaded
the payout of financial assistance to senior citizens, ensuring direct support
to those most in need.
Each beneficiary received PHP 1,000 per month
through the provision of Republic Act (RA) 11916 under the SocPen program. The
pension is given on a semestral basis, totaling PHP 6,000 per payment, to help
augment the senior citizens' daily subsistence and medical needs.
Under his leadership, Governor Oaminal emphasized
the provincial government’s steadfast commitment to supporting senior citizens
and improving the living conditions of Misamisnons.
“Kami sa provincial government naningkamot ug ayo
nga mapadagayday ang mga miharos diha ngadto sa atong mga katawhan. Kamo mao’y
inspirasyon namo sa paglihok ug sa pagdugang nga pagkugi buot pasabot nga sa
inyong suporta, sa atong panaghiusa ug sa atong paghinigugmaay, mao kana ang
inspirasyon namo to do more nga magkugi pa para atong makab-ot ang atong
vision, Asenso Misamis Occidental, unsa nga klase nga pag-Asenso nga kitang
Misamisnon Magpuyong Malinawon, Malambuon ug Malipayon,” he shared.
Cecilia Lapeña from Barangay Balintawak, Ozamiz
City, expressed her gratitude, “Nagpasalamat gyud ko ug dako kay nakadawat ko
ani (ayuda) kay ipalit nako ug tambal para sa akong maintenance ug gatas."
Gregorio Carreon Palioto, a resident of Purok 2,
Barangay Tabid, Ozamiz, said, “Mapasalamaton kaayo ko una-una sa atong mahal na
Pangulo Bongbong Marcos ug sa atong provincial officials nga gipangulohan ni
Governor Henry S. Oaminal ug paingon sa amoang haligi sa syudad sa Ozamiz nga
si Mayor Indy Oaminal uban sa konseho sa Ozamiz City ug sa mga sinaligan sa
DSWD. Makatabang ni pinaagi sa pagpalit sa kinahanglanon sa panimalay,
unang-una bugas ug ikaduha, ang mga tambal sa akong kaugalingon nga panlawas ug
sa uban pa. Daghan kaayong salamat.”
The beneficiaries were distributed across various
municipalities and cities, with numbers including Don Victoriano (767),
Bonifacio (3,197), Tangub City (4,725), Sapang Dalaga (2,568), Calamba (2,095),
Lopez Jaena (2,936), Baliangao (1,890), Conception (560), Plaridel (3,646),
Oroquieta City (5,059), Ozamiz City (8,281), Sinacaban (2,208), Jimenez
(2,864), Aloran (2,757), Panaon (1,117), Tudela (2,902), and Clarin (3,332). (SN/PGMO)

More than 3,000 senior citizens in Bonifacio town are happy to have received their increased social pension from the national government. This initiative was made possible by Governor Henry Oaminal, with the support of the two Congressmen in Misamis Occidental.
