MisOcc leads in Wushu Sanda golds, road to Palarong Pambansa 2024

 



Camiguin--The Northern Mindanao Regional Athletic Association (NMRAA) 2024 Wushu Sanda tournament proved to be a closely fought competition, with gold medals won by five different delegations: One Asenso Misamis Occidental, MORESGAA, Grandmasters Iligan Voltz, One Bukidnon, and Lanao Del Norte Sarimanok.

One Asenso Misamis Occidental emerged as the leader, securing the highest number of gold medals with a total of four. They were followed closely by MORESGAA and Iligan, each earning two gold medals, while Bukidnon and Lanao Del Norte each obtained one gold medal.

DepEd officials expressed immense gratitude for the unwavering support and encouragement from the One Asenso Misamis Occidental Provincial Athletic Association, under the dedicated leadership of Governor Henry S. Oaminal, Vice Governor Wheng Gutierrez, Second District Representative Cong. Ando Oaminal, and the esteemed board members and mayors.

“Your support and encouragement propelled us to achieve outstanding results, securing 4 golds, 3 silvers, and 2 bronzes in Wushu boys and girls combined, leading us to victory as the winning team overall champion in the region 10 Wushu Sanda event. We are truly grateful for the spirit of the One Asenso Misamis Occidental 5mers delegation that resonates within us,” a DepEd official shared.

The tournament featured a number of championship bouts that extended into the third round, showcasing the intense competition and highlighting the athletes’ skills, determination, power, strength, and wit. Spectators were impressed by the nonstop thrilling action from the first elimination round to the final championship bout.

Each weight class and category gold medalist will represent the region of Northern Mindanao in the upcoming Palarong Pambansa 2024, which will be held from July 6-16 in Cebu City. (SN/PGMO)
