MisOcc gov't ensures release of HEA for health workers
OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis
Occidental—Governor Henry S. Oaminal of Misamis Occidental spearheaded a consultative meeting and the release of the Health
Emergency Allowance (HEA) for health workers in the province at the Asenso
Misamis Occidental Sports and Cultural Center on May 5.
The HEA will provide much-needed support to frontline health workers who have
been tirelessly battling the COVID-19 pandemic.
Governor Oaminal expressed his
gratitude to these dedicated individuals, acknowledging their selfless service
and sacrifice in the face of adversity. He personally ensured the immediate
release at the national government level and expressed his happiness that
health workers from his province are receiving what they deserve.
"We are thrilled that our
dedicated health service frontliners will finally receive their dues. The
release of the HEA marks a victory for all of you who have tirelessly battled
against the COVID-19 pandemic," stated Governor Oaminal.
This allowance serves as
recognition for the invaluable contribution of health workers who have remained
at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19, often putting their health and
safety at risk.
Governor Oaminal emphasized the
importance of upholding the standards of quality health service, aligning with
the province's vision of "Misamisnons Magpuyong Malinawon, Malambuon ug
Malipayon."
"Previously, our hospitals
lacked medicines and doctors. Patients entered alive, but left in a dire state.
This was the usual scenario and the most common issue we faced, which I
immediately addressed upon assuming office as your governor,’’ he shared.
Over the past 2 years, the governor has addressed the shortage of medical personnel, increased nurses' salaries,
benefits, and allowances, improved hospital services, infrastructure of medical
facilities, and other necessities.
Looking at the records, the
disbursement for drugs and medicine in the five hospitals amounted to only
P7,942,636.86 in 2022. In 2023, the total disbursement reached P47,888,984.86.
This significant increase in disbursement reflects the substantial budget
allocation for medicines. This year, the total budget for medicines amounts to
68 million pesos, demonstrating Gov. Oaminal administration's prioritization of
funding for medicines to effectively address the medical needs.
The release of the HEA
underscores Governor Oaminal's dedication to ensuring the well-being of Misamis
Occidental's frontline heroes, as they continue to provide essential care and
support to communities across the province. (SN/PGMO)
