Provincial Nutrition Committee introduces HSO program to combat hunger, malnutrition in MisOcc

Misamis Occidental--The Provincial Nutrition Committee has introduced the Hunger Solutions program to fight the Misamis Occidental's lingering problem of hunger and malnutrition.

This came during the committee's conduct of its first-semester meeting on March 26, where the provincial government touted its efforts to eradicate hunger and malnutrition in Misamis Occidental.

Under the HSO program, the committee targets to utilize the first 1000 days in the calendar to address nutritional needs. This primarily aims to enhance physical health and cognitive development among residents while providing potential economic benefits.

Those well-nourished and cognitively developed individuals are more likely to excel academically and professionally. They can contribute to leading to a more productive workforce and bolstering economic growth.

The program underscores collaboration, engaging NGOs, DepEd, TESDA, DOST, DTI, and partners in Planning, Agriculture, Social Services, Health, GAD, and disaster management.

The HSO program's impact can be maximized through the province's collective efforts and resource-sharing among local government units.

Overall, the HSO initiative represents a unified endeavor to combat hunger and malnutrition, fostering a healthier future where every child will get an opportunity to thrive and contribute to the economy. (PGMO)
