New ferry service in MisOcc to boost local economy, says Gov Oaminal
OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental--Working Governor Henry S. Oaminal highlighted the significant contribution of the newly launched Starlite Ferries service to the vision of Asenso Misamis Occidental, emphasizing its potential to promote prosperity and well-being in the province.
During the grand launching of Starlite Ferries' newest route
in Oroquieta City, Governor Oaminal expressed his optimism about the positive
impact of this investment on the economic development of Misamis Occidental and
Oroquieta City. He emphasized that the ferry service would not only benefit the
economy but also contribute to the advancement of tourism and other industries,
ultimately fostering overall progress and improving the lives of the people.
The new route, Oroquieta - Larena - Tagbilaran - Cebu (vice
versa), initiated by Starlite Ferries Incorporated, commenced operations on
April 29, 2024. Governor Oaminal highlighted the accessibility and convenience
provided by this transportation service, which would create vast opportunities
for economic growth by facilitating employment generation and efficient product
delivery between Visayas and Mindanao.
Governor Oaminal also recognized the alignment of the ferry
service with the forthcoming opening of the Panguil Bay Bridge, which will
further enhance accessibility and mobility of goods and services, thus boosting
economic activities in the region.
Acknowledging Oroquieta City's proactive measures, including
the updating of its comprehensive land use plan, Governor Oaminal commended the
city for preparing for the anticipated economic boom resulting from these
developments.
Additionally, the provincial government is expediting the
completion of various projects such as the Asenso Misamis Occidental Resort and
Aquamarine Park (AMORAP) and Asenso Global Gardens (AGG), aiming to establish
them as premier tourist destinations. The completion of Asenso Medical Center,
among other initiatives, will contribute to medical tourism and attract more
visitors to the province.
Governor Oaminal expressed his confidence that the ferry
service would enhance the overall visitor experience and drive economic
development, aligning with the vision of Asenso Misamis Occidental.
He extended his congratulations to Mayor Lemuel Acosta, Vice
Mayor Virginia “Gegie” Almonte, and all stakeholders involved in realizing the
project, emphasizing the grand launching of the Starlite Ferry Oroquieta as a
significant milestone in the province's journey towards progress and
prosperity.
Encouraging support for this new venture, Governor Oaminal
envisioned it as a source of pride and value for Misamis Occidental,
