Governor Oaminal recognized the
significant roles women play in society, emphasizing the importance of
acknowledging and appreciating their contributions to the province's
development.

communities every day. Through your hard work and passion, makita nato ang
kabag-ohan sa atong komunidad. It has been a remarkable celebration of
empowerment and advocacy,’’ he shared.

and champion gender equality to pave the way for a more inclusive and just
society,’’ he added.
He assured that the Provincial Government,
through the Provincial Gender and Development Office, is committed to
protecting the rights of every woman and child against any form of violence.
Records from the Provincial Police Office
showed that the number of abused women decreased from 117 in 2022 to 85 in
2023, marking a notable 27% decline. This decrease reflects the tireless and
collaborative efforts between PGMO, the Provincial Police, and all stakeholders
to prioritize safety and protection in the province.
The governor also stressed the need for
intensified efforts, given that the number of abused children increased by 22%
from 98 in 2022 to 120 in 2023.
“These incidents of abuse against women
and children should be halted and prevented. We need to support and equip them
with knowledge, skills, and talents that empower them as the lights of our
homes. They are our vital partners towards achieving our 5Ms development thrust
of Misamisnon Magpuyong Malinawon, Malambuon ug Malipayon,’’ Governor Oaminal
said. (SN/PGMO)
