Enhancing the Nutritional Status of Asenso Athletes in Misamis Occidental
Misamis Occidental--The Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental, led by Governor Atty. Henry S. Oaminal has renewed its commitment to promoting sports through the Asenso Sports Program.
The initiative seeks to nurture young talents, preparing them to excel, not only at regional and national levels but also on the international stage.
The provincial government has recognized the significance of nutrition in athletic performance, thus, the Provincial Nutrition Action Office is tasked with monitoring the nutritional status of every Asenso athlete.
Proper nutrition is essential for optimizing athletic performance, maintaining an ideal body composition tailored to specific sports, and ensuring overall health and well-being.
Given that athletes have unique nutritional requirements influenced by their sports, training intensity, body composition, and metabolism, the Nutrition Action Office has developed individualized meal plans.
These meticulously designed meals aim to help athletes manage their weight, body fat percentage, and muscle mass, aligning with the specific demands of their sport and overarching health objectives.
In collaboration with the Department of Education (DEPED), the Provincial Government conducts rigorous weekly weight assessments to ensure athletes meet their weight goals.
DEPED personnel also coordinate meal planning to guarantee athletes consume foods tailored to their specific sports.
Through this multidisciplinary approach, coupled with unwavering support and care, we are confident that Asenso athletes will unlock their full potential and achieve peak performance in their respective sports. (PGMO)
