MisOcc prov’l school board OKs P55-M special educ fund for 2024
The Provincial School Board has
approved the P55 million fund allocation for the special education program this
year, ensuring the teaching and learning resources will be maximized.
The approval of the Special
Education Fund (SEF) stemmed from the board's commitment to enhancing the
education system in the province.
The board, headed by Governor
Henry S. Oaminal, has earmarked the SEF allocation intended for various
initiatives aimed at elevating the quality of education in the entire Misamis
Occidental.
There were allocations dedicated
to strengthening teachers' capacities in integrating educational technology
into teaching and learning processes.
The PSB’s approval of the SEF
also includes the modernization of teaching approaches, recognizing the
importance of equipping educators with the necessary skills to navigate the
digital landscape.
The budget will also fund the
procurement of books and information technology (IT) equipment, as well as
specialized apparatus for subjects like Science, Physical Education,
Journalism, and the Arts.
The board aims to provide
students with easy access to up-to-date learning materials and tools, fostering
a conducive environment for academic growth and innovation.
Governor Oaminal, known for his
unwavering advocacy for children's rights, stressed the importance of a
transformative, comprehensive, and holistic education system in shaping
responsible and capable citizens of the country.
The board vowed to prioritize
investments in education, particularly for those residing in underserved areas,
as it aims “to create a level playing field and empower every student to
unleash their full potential.”
The approved budget will also
cover the province’s initiatives for Sports Development Training as well as
participation in prestigious events such as the Palarong Pampook and Pambansa.
The provincial government
stressed these initiatives “not only promote physical health and well-being but
also instill values of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship among the
youth.”
Earlier this year, the province
achieved a significant milestone in hosting the first-ever One Asenso Misamis
Occidental Provincial Meet—staging the formation of one sports team
representing the province in regional and national sports competitions.
The PSB is promoting educational
excellence and inclusivity. Hence, to ensure there will be no let up in the
province’s goal to provide quality education for all Misamisnons.
With Governor Oaminal at the
helm, the “province is poised to witness transformative changes that will
positively impact the lives of the current and new generations.”(PGMO)
