NMRAA-10 breaks into top 5 in Palarong Pambansa 2025; Gov. Oaminal awards cash incentives to gold medalists

Misamis Occidental — For the first time in history, the Northern Mindanao Regional Athletic Association (NMRAA-10) secured a spot in the Top 5 of the Palarong Pambansa 2025, a historic feat made possible through the unwavering support and motivation from Misamis Occidental Governor Henry S. Oaminal.

True to his promise, Governor Oaminal personally distributed cash incentives to NMRAA gold medalists, recognizing their perseverance, discipline, and excellence. Athletes from Misamis Occidental received ₱60,000 each, while gold medalists from other provinces of Region 10 were also honored with ₱30,000 each.

Department of Education Region 10 Director Dr. Arturo B. Bayocot praised Governor Oaminal’s exemplary leadership and strong commitment to youth and education development.

“From the bottom of my heart and from the entire DepEd Regional Office 10, thank you very much, Governor Oaminal, for your overwhelming support, not just through incentives, but through the way you lead, especially in Misamis Occidental,” said Dr. Bayocot.

In his message, Governor Oaminal highlighted the significance of this achievement, proudly stating:

“For the first time, Region 10 has reached its highest ranking—Top 5 in the Palarong Pambansa. Congratulations to all our gold medalists for bringing pride and honor to Northern Mindanao. Let’s work even harder to rank even higher next year.”

The athletes also expressed heartfelt appreciation especially those from outside the province, who felt genuinely seen and valued.

Julia Kris Onate, a Taekwondo gold medalist from Cagayan de Oro, shared her gratitude:

“I would like to thank Governor Henry Oaminal for the incentives he gave us, the gold medalists of Palarong Pambansa. We’re truly grateful because even though we’re not from Misamis Occidental, he still gave us incentives. Governor Oaminal is really admirable.”

Governor Oaminal’s visionary leadership, generosity, and genuine care for the youth continue to uplift not only Misamis Occidental but the entire Region 10, fostering hope, pride, and excellence in the next generation of champions. (SN/PGMO)
