Gov. Henry Oaminal elected as Secretary General of the League of Provinces of the Philippines for 2025–2028

MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL — Misamis Occidental Governor Henry S. Oaminal has been elected as Secretary General of the League of Provinces of the Philippines (LPP) and Regional Chairman for Northern Mindanao (Region 10) for the 2025–2028 term.

The election was held during the LPP’s 1st General Assembly and Election of Officers on July 25, 2025, at Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria, gathering governors from all 82 provinces across the country.

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr. administered the oath of office to the newly elected officers.

As Secretary General of the National Executive Board, Governor Oaminal now plays a vital role in representing Northern Mindanao’s regional concerns, advancing national reforms, and promoting stronger inter-provincial collaboration—marking a significant milestone for Misamis Occidental’s leadership in national governance.

In his message, Governor Oaminal expressed deep gratitude and a renewed sense of purpose, “I am honored and humbled to be entrusted with this responsibility. This is not just a recognition of Misamis Occidental, but of the collective progress of our region. As Secretary General, I vow to help shape a League that truly works for the people—one that unites governors for inclusive growth, good governance, and sustainable development across the country.’’

The newly elected LPP National Officers for 2025–2028 include Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr. of South Cotabato as National President, Governor Dakila Carlo E. Cua of Quirino as National Chairman, and Governor Lilia G. Pineda of Pampanga as Executive Vice President.

Also elected as Senior Vice Presidents are Governor Rodolfo T. Albano III of Isabela for North Luzon, Governor Luis Raymund F. Villafuerte Jr. of Camarines Sur for South Luzon, Governor Arthur R. Defensor, Jr. of Iloilo for the Visayas, and Governor Nilo P. Demerey, Jr. of Dinagat Islands for Mindanao.

With this new role, Governor Oaminal brings not only the voice of Misamis Occidental but also the collective aspirations of Northern Mindanao to the table, continuing his advocacy for unity, progress, and inclusive governance among provinces nationwide. (SN/PGMO)
