Roderick Gulahab: A Story of Perseverance and Triumph with the support of Asenso One Family, One Professional Program
Tangub City, Misamis Occidental –
Roderick Gulahab, a grantee of the One Family, One Professional Program
under the leadership of Governor Henry S. Oaminal, has successfully achieved
his dream of graduating from college. Despite facing immense hardships and
having to support himself throughout his studies, Roderick's determination to
become a professional never wavered. The One Family, One Professional
Program played a crucial role in helping him overcome the significant
challenges he encountered during his education, especially since he no longer
had parents to support him.
In his early years, Roderick
faced severe challenges, including the loss of both of his parents. As the
breadwinner of his family, he worked hard to support his studies. "My
journey in school was extremely difficult because I no longer had parents. I
lost them at a young age, and the struggles were overwhelming. But I was
determined to finish my studies and become a degree holder," Roderick
shared.
With only P400 in his pocket,
Roderick was determined to at least experience college life for a week. "I
told myself that I would just go to school for one week to experience what it's
like to be in college. At least I could say that I’ve been to college, and that
was my mindset at the time," he recalled.
Then, the One Family, One
Professional Program arrived in his life, and it became the turning point
he had been hoping for. "The program was a huge help to me in continuing
my studies. It provided for my boarding house, allowance, and daily meals while
I was studying in Pagadian," he explained. This program gave Roderick the
financial support he desperately needed to stay in school and pursue his dream.
"I feel so blessed by God.
Despite all the struggles in life, He never left me. My prayers were
answered," Roderick said, expressing his gratitude. The support he
received through the program, along with his faith in God, helped him push
through his difficult circumstances and stay focused on his goal.
After completing his On-the-Job
Training (OJT), Roderick’s perseverance paid off. He was hired by the Local
Government Unit (LGU) of Tangub City. "I was so grateful to be hired by
the LGU. I never thought that I could achieve this, especially since I lost my
parents early in life. I once thought it was impossible for me to finish
college, but through God's guidance and strength, I managed to persevere,"
he said.
For Roderick, success was never
just for his own benefit. He wanted to help his siblings and family. "This
success is not just for me; it’s also for my siblings. Even though I no longer
have my parents, I still want to help them. It’s a different situation when
your family is struggling, especially when there’s an emergency and you can’t
do anything to help," he shared.
Roderick expressed his heartfelt
gratitude to Governor Henry Oaminal for the life-changing opportunity provided
through the One Family, One Professional Program. "I am truly
thankful to Governor Henry Oaminal for his program. I hope that it continues
because he is a great instrument sent by God to help young people with dreams
of achieving success in their education," Roderick concluded.
Roderick Gulahab's journey is a powerful reminder that no
matter how difficult the circumstances may be, success is possible with
perseverance, faith, and the right support. His story proves that with
determination and opportunity, anyone can rise above their challenges and
achieve their dreams. (SN/PGMO)
