OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental (PGMO) — The Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation of Misamis Occidental recently concluded a dynamic 3-day Provincial Celebration of Linggo ng Kabataan 2024, designed to empower and unite the province’s youth.

Under the theme "FROM CLICKS TO PROGRESS: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development," the event aimed to equip young people with digital skills and knowledge essential for driving impactful, sustainable change in their communities.

SK Federation President Clara Mie Villanueva emphasized the event’s mission to harness the talents and creativity of the youth, providing them with platforms for self-improvement through public speaking, arts projects, and various other programs. She expressed deep gratitude to the provincial leadership, particularly Governor Henry S. Oaminal, for their unwavering support and commitment to the youth's welfare and future.

Vice Governor Rowena Guttierez, speaking on behalf of Governor Oaminal, highlighted the dedication of the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation across all 17 LGUs. The message underscored the significant role of the youth in achieving the province's development goals and serving as a vital support system for future generations.

The celebration began with traditional Filipino games, known as "Larong Pinoy" or “Laro ng Lahi,” fostering camaraderie among participants and preserving cultural heritage. The second day brought a surge of creativity with the Poster Slogan Contest themed "Kabataang Misamisnon: Living in 5Ms," where Clarin secured first place, followed by Baliangao in second, and Tudela in third.

The event concluded with an Oratorical Contest where participants passionately discussed "Ang Misamis Occidental Karun: Sitwasyon sa Peace and Order ug ang Nasinati sa Kabatan-unan sa Bag-ong Administrasyon." The winners—Plaridel in first place, Tudela in second, and Panaon in third—offered powerful insights and visionary perspectives on the province's future.

The festivities wrapped up with the Sanguniang Youth Night Celebration and the awarding of winners, reinforcing the province's commitment to empowering its youth by equipping them with the tools and knowledge needed to lead Misamis Occidental toward a brighter and more prosperous future.

This year's Linggo ng Kabataan showcased Misamis Occidental’s dedication to its youth, as they continue to build a community that is peaceful, progressive, and joyful. (SN)
