DA-10 Chief, MisOcc Governor strategize for agricultural program implementation
Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental—The Department of Agriculture - 10
Regional Executive Director Jose Apollo Y. Pacamalan met with Misamis
Occidental Governor Henry S. Oaminal to discuss the strategic implementation of
agricultural programs in the province.
This meeting aimed to strengthen partnerships and collaborations to enhance
the effectiveness of agricultural initiatives.
The discussions centered on addressing the challenges faced by the DA, local
government, and farmers in executing agricultural projects at the grassroots
level.
As part of a strategic action plan, the DA and the Provincial Local
Government Unit (PLGU) identified specific roles for their respective offices
to ensure timely and optimal implementation of the Rice Farmers Financial
Assistance (RFFA), Fertilizer Discount Voucher (FDV), and agricultural
infrastructure projects under the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP),
a World Bank-funded initiative.
Director Pacamalan also encouraged the PLGU to explore bamboo and coconut as
potential champion commodities for the province, emphasizing their economic
potential and suitability for local conditions.
The meeting included representatives from Misamis Occidental's Provincial
Agriculture, Veterinary, and Planning offices, along with the DA-10's operating
units. This collaborative effort aimed to streamline the implementation system
for agricultural projects between the two government offices.
This approach aligns with DA Secretary’s agenda of ensuring an efficient
logistics system for farm inputs to improve production output, thereby
contributing to the overall agricultural development in Misamis Occidental.
