MisOcc athletes bag 185 medals in NMRAA, bringing joy and pride
CAMIGUIN — Athletes from One
Asenso Misamis Occidental demonstrated exceptional skills, determination, and a
strong spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie by winning 185 medals. They
brought home an impressive haul of 52 gold, 56 silver, and 77 bronze medals at
the recent 2024 Northern Mindanao Regional Athletic Association (NMRAA) Meet in Camiguin.
The five-day NMRAA Meet 2024
concluded with Misamis Occidental securing the 3rd overall champion title in
the elementary level category during the culminating activity held at the
Camiguin Sports Complex on May 17.
In addition to their medal count,
the delegation received the 1st runner-up award for the Cleanest, Greenest, and
Eco-Friendly delegation, further highlighting their commitment to excellence
and environmental stewardship. This recognition underscores their dedication to
sustainability and creating a healthy environment for athletes and
participants.
Schools Division Superintendent
Reynaldo Manuel of DepED Misamis Occidental could hardly contain his joy,
stating, "We are 3rd overall champion in the elementary level. This is a
historic achievement at the 2024 NMRAA! Sa inyo sakripisyo ug pag-ampo.
Kahilakon ko sa kalipay."
The athletes of Misamis
Occidental are deeply grateful for the unwavering support from the provincial
government, led by Governor Henry S. Oaminal. His constant encouragement,
financial support, and readiness to respond to their training needs have been instrumental
in their success.
A robust team of 504 athletes,
representing both elementary and secondary levels, competed across a diverse
array of sports including basketball, swimming, archery, arnis, boxing, chess,
gymnastics, taekwondo, sepak takraw, and para games, among others. The
athletes' dedication and hard work, combined with the strong backing from their
