Metro Central Mall breaks ground in Oroquieta, Misamis Occidental
OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis
Occidental —After months of anticipation, Oroquieta City witnessed a historic
moment as the groundbreaking ceremony for the Metro Central Mall took place on
April 23.
The event, led by mall
executives, City Mayor Lemuel Meyrick Acosta, Vice Mayor Aurora Virginia
Almonte, and Vice Governor Rowena Gutierrez representing Governor Henry Oaminal,
along with city officials, marked the beginning of a new era for the city's
development. The ceremony unfolded at the project site located in Upper
Langcangan, beside the UCCP Church.
Mayor Lemuel Meyrick Acosta
conveyed his excitement about the occasion, stating, "Today, history is in
our midst, and this is a date that the whole of Oroquieta will never forget. A
little later, we will witness the groundbreaking ceremony that will pave the
way for the construction and opening of Oroquieta City's first-ever mall, THE
METRO CENTRAL MALL."
Highlighting the significance of
the Metro Central Mall, Mayor Acosta emphasized its role in Oroquieta's
transformation into a bustling urban center. "From the name of the mall
itself, THE METRO CENTRAL, it affirms that sooner or later, our city will
become a Metropolis, a big and prosperous city in the province of Misamis
Occidental and the whole of Region X. This is what will become of Oroquieta in
the coming years,” he said.
The Mayor expressed confidence
that the mall will not only provide Oroquietanons with a malling experience but
also attract visitors from across Misamis Occidental, contributing to the
city's economic growth and development.
Vice Governor Rowena Gutierez
conveyed Governor Henry Oaminal's message, expressing pride and gratitude for
the groundbreaking ceremony. She highlighted the Metro Central Mall as a symbol
of progress, growth, and prosperity for Misamis Occidental, acknowledging the
support of Oroquieta's residents and investment partners in making the project
possible.
The ceremony marks the beginning
of an exciting chapter in Oroquieta's development, aligning with the vision of
the Asenso administration under the leadership of Governor Henry Oaminal. This
vision aims to create a Misamisnon community where residents live peacefully,
